Funerary lekythos

Unknown origins shroud this human form. Delicate fluting on the lekythos body culminates in a series of ovuli. A relief scene dominates the front of the vase: two men draped in himatia are depicted within a naiskos structure. One elderly figure, positioned at left, rests upon a staff while his counterpart stands at right, grasping a strigil in his right hand. Color likely indicated the bottom portion of the staff and the strigil. Both figures convey anguish through their facial expressions as well as the stance of the elderly man, who is probably deceased.
