Funerary altar

Majestic funerary altar carved from marble, hailing from the grand era of Augustus, honors Vinicius Corinthus and his devoted wife Vinicia, whose likeness is beautifully rendered on the main facade. The husband and wife are depicted holding hands in a tender gesture, with the man proudly displaying the scroll of their marriage contract in his left hand. In contrast, Vinicia grasps a vibrant pomegranate, an exquisite wedding gift symbolizing abundance and fertility. A poignant inscription etched between the couple reveals how this magnificent monument was skillfully repurposed and rededicated by Vinicia Glaphyra to her beloved son Vinicius Castus. This extraordinary relic is part of the ambitious "Scan The World" project, a groundbreaking initiative launched by MyMiniFactory that aims to create a comprehensive digital archive of fully 3D printable sculptures, artworks, and landmarks from around the globe for public access at no cost. Scan The World is an open-source community effort where anyone can contribute fascinating items from their surroundings; simply email stw@myminifactory.com to learn how you can become a part of this remarkable endeavor.
