Funeral relief of a horseman

myminifactory

This relief shows a man on horseback being led by a servant who grasps the reins tightly, while another figure on the right raises his hat in greeting. It is thought that this artwork is part of a funeral monument for a priest from the ancient College of the Salii, recognizable by his distinctive leather cap. At the bottom of the slab lies an oval opening, possibly the source of light from the original burial site. This relief was created at the end of the 2nd century A.D.
