Functional Hourglass (Mice & Mystics)
thingiverse
A compact timekeeper. Instead of a flat marker, I opted for a 3D hourglass and was dissatisfied with the designs available on Thingiverse. This design should be straightforward to assemble directly from the printer. To make it operational, you'll need to print the 0.6 mm version of the glass in transparent plastic. Alternatively, print in vase mode without top or bottom. I chose to use clear ABS and later vapor-treated it for increased clarity. I employed a Dremel to give the bases a wood-like appearance. Following this, I applied a layer of paint and then used shader to make the Dremel cuts appear darker. Dry brushing with a slightly lighter color can also be used to enhance the wooden structure further. For sand, I utilized crushed silica gel.
