Fume Extractor Shroud / LED Mount
thingiverse
This fume extractor shroud was designed specifically to work in conjunction with this particular fume extractor: https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:69729. The bottom section was intentionally left off, as it proved to be a hindrance and also contributed unnecessary weight to the extractor's head. By removing the bottom, I aimed to create an improved design that would effectively capture smoke particles and draw them through the system more efficiently. Support structures are required for the first 5mm of print height to ensure stable and smooth printing. The shroud slides seamlessly into the carefully crafted grooves on the face of the fume extractor's head. Kudos must be given to @sneakypoo, whose forward-thinking design included a provision for future attachments, making it easy to add new features as needed. To enhance visibility and illuminate work surfaces, I incorporated a 12-volt LED strip into the shroud. This clever addition not only eliminates shadows cast by the fume extractor but also provides excellent lighting for optimal working conditions. A 6-LED white LED strip was used to achieve a bright and even glow.
