Fume Extractor

Fume Extractor

Fume Extractor is probably a misnomer since it merely accelerates fumes away from your workspace while soldering. I repurposed an old ip camera mount using a standard 1/4-20 tripod bolt on top, threading it directly into the fan holder's base. This setup is designed for an 80mm fan. The holes on the little funnel might be too small, so you may need to enlarge them with a drill bit. I secured everything together using M5 machine screws in the hood piece. I added a compact 12-volt wall adapter and a spst latching button switch with a 12.7mm hole. Last night's test showed it effectively kept soldering fumes from rising straight up my nose. You'll need to keep it relatively close to the workpiece for optimal performance. If you truly prioritize health and safety, consider searching for alternatives that connect directly to a vent tube, completely removing fumes from your workspace.
