Introducing the first open-source system that uses a single hot end to print in two colors! This innovative system can be utilized with Jhead or similar, and budaschnozzle or equivalent (adapter available at thingiverse.com). For more details on its development, visit http://3dita.falaschi.com/search/label/FalaUnion-Mono. Easy installation process involves printing the following components: x-carriage-3dita (currently available for Prusa i3), Fum_3mm_rev5 (two large and small gears), MagicHole (positive and negative versions). Insert a piece of poliuretane tube into MagicHole_negative, then secure with MagicHole_positive and bore a 3mm hole. You'll also need M5 2cm, two drive gears (3mm), four bearings 605, and two bearings 624, along with M4 1.4 cm. Firmware configurations include defining EXTRUDE_MINTEMP 20 in Configuration.h and define EXTRUDERS 2 in Configuration_adv.h. Use Cura's settings to enable machine settings for two extruders, adjust speed and temperature, support dual extrusion, and fine-tune advanced retraction settings. Upon starting the print, disable stepper motors, move filaments with gears or hands, and initiate printing with the first filament inside the nozzle. The system autocalibrates during the initial flow phase (skirt). Collaborate on GitHub to access Slic3r settings, scad files, and more! Future enhancements include optimizing fan placement, testing a basket for eliminating wipe&prime towers, and developing better gcode for Slic3r tool change.
