This is a sump I designed for a 2.5-gallon freshwater aquarium, featuring multiple compartments and customizable sections. The intended use includes holding a filter pad, providing a central hub for bio media or a refugium, and accommodating fluidized media like K2. To ensure durability, I plan to coat the entire structure with a waterproof material such as pond shield. For prototyping purposes, I envision creating this sump from acrylic, but I'm still refining my design. The removable insert is designed to be easily swapped out if needed, allowing for seamless updates or modifications. This innovative approach enables users to modify their design without having to replace the entire system. Key specifications include an outer dimension of 4 1/2 inches by 8 inches, with a thickness of 1/8 inch plexiglas. It's essential to note that saltwater can compromise PLA, but ABS is expected to perform well in this environment. In addition to sharing this design, I'll also upload related components, such as various baffle designs of different dimensions, to facilitate experimentation and customization.
