Fully Parametric Drag Chain
thingiverse
This is a fully adjustable drag chain that meets individual needs. The model can be customized in terms of width, length, and height. Additionally, the maximum and minimum bend radius can be specified. The connector pins can be positioned on either the outside or inside of the chain link. If the chain link is defined as open, users have the option to close it using a clip or toothpick. The clip is automatically generated and attached, while the toothpick is inserted through two holes and broken off flush. Tolerance and toothpick diameter can also be selected. A modifier block can be generated to allow for color changes in the middle of the chain. This design can be printed without support structures. Parameters can be set using either OpenSCAD's customizer or Thingiverse's customizer app. This is a remix of Joerg Scheuermann's fully parametrical drag chain from Thingiverse, available at https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:8239. A new module was added to utilize a clip instead of a toothpick for closing the drag chain link. A variable was also introduced for toothpick diameter, and a block was created as a modifier for color changes. The design is now compatible with OpenSCAD's customizer and Thingiverse's customizer app, allowing for seamless customization without requiring code modifications. The clip option was added to address limitations in the original toothpick version, which proved difficult to open and close when adding new items. Closed versions were also not feasible. Clips can be easily attached or detached with a flathead screwdriver. This drag chain has been used on a CNC for almost a year without any issues.
