Fully Customizable Case Fan Gril
thingiverse
I needed a grill/guard for a 200mm case fan that I had to mount externally on my PC Case. There were several options, but none that I truly liked. I also liked the (smaller) ones I saw with the spider web design, as I felt it lent itself well to the purpose of the grill. I pulled this together in OpenSCAD. It is fully configurable. Fan diameter (193mm is the ID for my 200mm fan) Grill frame width Mount hole size (used 5mm as that was the screw size sent with both my old and new fans) Mount hole placement (used 154mm as that is the most common 200mm placement) Grill frame thickness Background image (I used the spider web SVG) Center/logo image (I used the spider silhouette SVG) *optional to use a center image or not Center/logo image size (This is a percentage of the overall grill size. I used 60% for the spider, because there was a lot of empty space between the legs and any smaller and you could not make out that it was a spider). I found the SVGs online. Many choices and that lends to the ease of customization. You can even create your own text or picture SVG (or maybe DXF will work to, have not tried) to use to customize your fan grill as 100% your own. One limitation is that the background SVG really expects a circular picture. It will auto size whatever you choose to fit the grill size selected. I am about 30% of the way through printing my grill right now, printing it in clear PLA. I will upload a picture when it finishes.
