Full Size Darth Vader Helmet from Star Wars
thingiverse
I've had my eye on Hybryda's fantastic Darth Vader bust, and once I got my CR-10 up and running, I decided to print it full size. Then I wondered if I could hollow it out, so I did. I broke it down into pieces; the mask is one piece, but I also cut the chin off to make it easier to print the mask and chin separately. There are two options for the back of the mask - the full back of the head or just the lower half. Since the back is covered in the helmet design, you can decide which one you want to use. The helmet dome itself is broken up into four pieces for the flared section and a single piece for the top of the dome. I updated the dome top piece; it will use more material and take longer to print, but it should work better. I just uploaded the tusk model. I haven't printed it yet, but I might need to drill the holes bigger - I'll let you know how it goes. I left the gaps in the mask and chin vents in place to make it easier to print; just cut them out with a Dremel and add some diamond-shaped grill to finish the look. I've printed all the pieces, and they're currently printing the top of the dome - it's going to take a while. They all printed well, but I still need to play around with the settings on my CR-10; however, it's done a pretty good job, but it will need a lot of sanding and filling. I'll post more photos over the next couple of weeks as I get more done on it. Thanks again, Hybryda, for the amazing model.
