Mudlarking is the art of scouring the foreshore for historical treasures and meticulously collecting, documenting, and preserving them. There are only 50 fully certified mudlarks in all of London. Alan holds his trusty mudlarking trowel, a tool he uses to skillfully scrape the riverbed for valuable finds. Nearby lies his bright yellow collecting bucket, a testament to years of dedication to the craft. With decades of experience under his belt, Alan showcases an impressive display of his prized collection at the Sands Films Studio in Rotherhithe.
