Fujitsu ScanSnap Rollers

Print the rollers in TPU or TPE so it's flexible or you won't be able to install it and it won't work. The Fujitsu ScanSnap document scanners (mine is a ScanSnap S1300) has a problem with the silicon rollers in the document feeder degrading. The scanner is notoriously difficult to take apart if you attempt to replace with aftermarket rollers since Fujitsu doesn't sell the part. These little rollers render an otherwise perfectly good document scanner useless (I know, I bought the aftermarket rollers and tried to install them but couldn't). Clean out the debris of the old rollers from the steel drive shafts (some sticky residue may be fine as it may keep the new rollers in place). Print out these rollers using flexible TPU or TPE filament. I have included the cutting jig to be printed with PLA or PETG for the rollers to get a straight cut. Once printed, cut these new rollers with a razor blade in the cutting jig so you can slip them over the drive shafts without taking the scanner apart. Once on for a few minutes, the rollers will relax and the cut gaps will reduce in size a little. I offset the cut sides on the drive shafts for each roller. If you want, you could very carefully use a soldering iron or similar tool to melt the cut parts closed while pinching the cuts together with a needle nose plier or something. I left the cuts open, and it works fine (see the photo, cuts are crooked as this was before I designed the cutter). Only a few cents of TPU filament brought my scanner back to life instead of going into the trash. If this print saves your scanner, consider donating to my coffee fund via the link at the bottom near my username.
