Fuji GX680 Battery Box (AA680)

---- ASSEMBLY INSTRUCTIONS COMING VERY SOON ---- The Fuji GX680 models I and II prove to be very capable cameras. Unfortunately, they were originally sold with a proprietary rechargeable battery that has stopped functioning after 30 years - the OEM Fuji AA battery box is now an uncommon and expensive accessory selling for more than the cost of the camera itself! The more expensive GX680 model III would fix this issue by incorporating a lithium battery holder as standard equipment, but what about all those cheap model I and II cameras available with no power source? The `AA680` posted here serves as an alternative to the costly OEM Fuji AA battery box. It uses 6 double A batteries just like the original, making it a quick and affordable solution if you have your own printer. You can produce one of these for under $8. This design is meant to simplify production by using off-the-shelf parts - order a 6xAA battery holder from eBay and metal contacts to connect with the camera body's pins. In the future, I might create a `deluxe` version with lid and latch, but as it stands, the `AA680` was designed to be printed in under 2 hours using a library 3D printer with a 2-hour limit and requires minimal assembly and soldering. To assemble this project, you will need: - the `AA680` 3D printed bracket - superglue - a soldering iron and solder - a 6xAA inline battery holder (search eBay for "6xAA battery holder" - choose one without a lid) - a pair of AAA/AAAA contacts (search eBay for "AAA/AAAA contact") I won't provide links to specific eBay sales as I am not affiliated with any sellers. These parts are common and easily found using the right search terms. Good luck assembling this project! Feel free to modify or improve upon this design!
