Fuel Pump Tank Nut Tool
thingiverse
I would "ping" around the large plastic nut with a medium size hammer before trying to remove it. Tapping around the nut will help loosen it and make it much easier to break loose. Also, I would place one of these on the tank nut and use a small hammer to bump it around, tapping on the head of the printed tool. Doing this should make removing the plastic tank nut easy. Be careful not to bust the nut or tool by hitting too hard. These tools are designed for removing large plastic fuel pump ring-nuts when replacing automotive fuel pumps. They fit most models with extruding teeth around the outer edges for gripping. There are three types: The "Wedge_OFF_TOOL" and the "Wedge_ON_TOOL" are single-purpose tools for taking the nut on or off. You may be able to turn one of them over or upside down and reverse the direction with a bit of patience on some applications. Others may need both. With the Wedge Tool, you will use a large screwdriver or other strong steel tool to wedge in between the two risers on the side to loosen the nut. The "Pliers_ON-OFF_Tool" can be flipped over and used to remove the nut as well as re-installing it. I would use vise-grip pliers and clamp them on at the end of the tool. It should work well. The "ScrewDriver_ON_OFF_TOOL" will need a 1/4-inch diameter steel rod to slide down the hole in the middle of it, giving you leverage to install or remove the nut. The hole is 5/16 inch diameter and may be able to use a 1/4-inch socket drive extension as well. Anything steel that will slide down the hole to give leverage will work. Between them all, one should do the trick. Study the photos and your application, and I'm sure one or other will get the job done. Print these strong using at least 50% fill or more. The stronger it is, the better it will last and become your go-to tool when working on fuel pumps that use large round toothed nuts like this. Thanks, Rick.
