When swapping in a higher flow pump, like Walbro or TRE, you'll probably need a custom sleeve to adapt the stock pump carrier to smaller diameter universal pumps and secure it at the proper height. You can buy these machined aluminum parts online, but they're pricey for what they are - equivalent to buying 2-3 spools of nylon filament. Luckily, 3D printing is an option! This particular design should work with e36 and e38 engines, but I only personally guarantee its compatibility with the e34. When printing this sleeve, it's submerged in gasoline, so you must not use ABS or PLA plastic! To get good results, I used Taulman 618 Nylon at 245C / 70C on an MBI 2X 3D printer. Because of the shallow overhang angles, support material is unnecessary. Version v1 and version v2 differ only by a perimeter recess at the bottom that holds a stainless steel hose clamp in place, keeping it from slipping off. You need to be aware that this part will be fully submerged in gasoline, so don't even think about using ABS or PLA plastic!
