A fuel pump is typically crucial for car engines and certain internal combustion devices; however, older motorcycle engines can function without one as gravity feeds fuel from the tank. In fuel injection systems, electric pumps inside the tank are common, while some engines have two pumps - a low-pressure/high-volume supply pump in the tank and a high-pressure/low-volume pump near the engine. Maintaining optimal fuel pressure is essential for proper engine function. If it's too high, the engine runs rough and inefficiently; if too low, it may misfire or stall, causing pollution.
