Fuel can servo cover
thingiverse
This is a custom servo cover designed to resemble a fuel can, specifically tailored to fit a servo steering rig in new_POPE's inflatable 1/10 boat. Those who prefer not to follow the unusual instructions for his custom outboard installation will find this cover a convenient solution. I created it for my own RNLI D Class Lifeboat project, as I needed a discreet location to conceal my servo - unfortunately, it doesn't fit in the bilge area of my old outboard, which lacks built-in steering. This servo cover is designed to accommodate any standard servo, but it was made specifically for my affordable Alturn waterproof servo. To ensure a secure fit, simply remove the two mounting arm attachments from your servo before installing it in this cover. A strategically placed hole in the lid allows the steering rig to function smoothly, while the small gear on top cleverly mimics the screw cap of a fuel can, adding to the disguise. For improved printability and strength, I've updated the file to make the print slightly wider than the original images. Although this servo cover is a bit too short for the entire servo, I'm working on creating a foam floor for my boat, just like the real thing. This will enable me to shape the fuel can more convincingly, making it less recognizable as a servo housing. Feel free to download and use this custom design - it's available for your convenience!
