Alliance marker for First Tech Challenge (SkyStone) for our Team 4813. We successfully printed three distinct versions to "perfect" the buckle design and ended up with this final result. I have included the Solidworks files, making it easier for others to modify them. This project is listed as a work in progress because we believe it can be used for years to come and anticipate future changes, including the heat insert nut orientation. -Printing & Assembly- We printed the middle part in three separate files using white PLA without supports, then painted the red and blue components with acrylic paint. The circle, square, and middle buckle parts were assembled together using super glue. Four McMaster Carr "Heat sink insert nuts" (part# 93365A130) were soldered into place. When handling these nuts, be cautious not to over-tighten the 6-32 bolts, as this can cause them to pull out of the plastic.
