FT5-R2 ExtruderClamp
thingiverse
I acquired this Folgertech FT5 R2 FDM 3D printer and made several upgrades, including an AC heat bed, a TFT display, a Titan Aero extruder, and a Volcano hot end. The previous owner had installed a Titan direct drive extruder with the step motor bolted to the back of the tall carriage frame. When printing on angled surfaces, I noticed waves appearing in the print, and there was significant flexibility in the entire extruder/hot head assembly. To address this issue, I decided not to replace the carrier but instead designed a clamp that would secure the print head assembly by leveraging the front side of the carriage. Here is what you'll need to create this clamp: - 2 M3 x 35 screws - 2 M3BN2 M3x5x5mm Metric Threaded Brass Knurl Round Insert Nuts
