The following warning is intended for individuals with expertise in electronics. No liability will be assumed for damages resulting from this. Right from the backpack, I can operate my radio directly. A crucial requirement is to extend the loudspeaker outward. Closer than a speaker mic would be ideal, but I couldn't find a microphone with a matching plug. Fortunately, a 3-dollar speaker mic has been successfully connected to the FT-817. I modified the cheap microphone by cutting off the original plug and making further adjustments. The existing LED was replaced with the microphone capsule, and the series resistor was bypassed. A 3/4 piece of a paper handkerchief was also used inside the speaker mic for sound insulation. While there are more high-quality speaker mics available on the market, the result after modifications is notable. The RJ45 plug and the inner workings of the jack plug were secured with a few drops of super glue from the inside of the plug. The final wiring with the coupling capacitor and resistor was soldered into the speaker mic plug (see diagrams). The upper portion was assembled to the lower part using four M3x10 screws and nuts. It's essential to ensure the mobility of the unlock. WARNING: Special pliers are required to crimp the wires at the RJ45 connector. Do not use the plug on the transceiver without proper crimping or complete wiring with the speaker mic, as this will inevitably cause damage to the FT-817! The electrical insulation of contacts and components is a given. When assembling all parts together, remember to include the "unlock"! Otherwise, the FT-817 speaker mic plug will be difficult to remove from the transceiver socket. 73 es 55 de DH1ND Print Settings: Printer: CTC 3D Printer Rafts: No Supports: No Resolution: Layer height 0.1mm / 2 Shells Infill: 20% Notes: To remove excess PLA, use a 5mm slotted screwdriver in the recesses on the outsides.
