FT-5 Rod Holder For Diamond Setup
thingiverse
I designed this to be mounted on the inside rear of a 2020 vertical rail, nestled between the bottom and middle upper horizontal rail of the FolgerTech FT-5. Its purpose is to hold a rod that will support filament spools, a necessity due to the Diamond Hotend setup I installed. This setup pulls the filament up into three extruders instead of down through the stock direct drive extruder. To create a convenient installation process, I carefully crafted a hole for the rod, which is a standard 16.5mm diameter spring rod used for curtains. This allows users to pass rubber ends through without having to remove them from the rod ends. Bolt holes are strategically positioned at 5.15mm in diameter, making it effortless to insert M5 screws that were likely left over from the FT-5 build. This design measures 200mm in length, 4mm in thickness, and stands 40mm tall. I recommend producing two identical pieces, one for each side of the printer bed. Given its placement on the rear rails, standard spools should safely clear the bed's edge without any issues, while smaller spools will have even more room to maneuver. If you have any suggestions or ideas, please feel free to share them with me.
