FT-5 No More Tears Anti-Tangle Chip Brush Filament Guide
thingiverse
During a massive print my new reel of filament suddenly began to unravel and tangle. Instead of risking waking up the next morning to a failed print, I improvised a makeshift solution using a 1" chip brush and some zip ties. This device is a more refined version of the same concept. The filament passes through the brush's bristles, giving it just enough resistance that it can be easily pulled out as the printer's extruder demands, but prevents the filament from getting pushed back out towards the reel causing the dreaded tangle. This was designed to fit a Folgertech FT-5, but may also work for other printers built with 2020 extrusion. It gets mounted to the top of the printer using an 8mm M3 screw and T-nut from underneath. A standard 1" chip brush head fits into the opening, and can be secured using another 8mm M3 screw or two. Filament exits your reel from under the arm, runs through the brush bristles, through the two loops and then into your extruder.
