Icarus, son of Daedalus, the Labyrinth creator, tried escaping Crete with wings crafted from feathers and wax. Daedalus warned Icarus not to fly too low or high; however, Icarus disregarded his father's advice and flew too close to the sun, causing the wax in his wings to melt and fall into the sea, resulting in a tragic end. This story shares similarities with Phaëthon's tale of hubris-driven failure.
