FSL Hobby 5th gen - X carriage for mini-v slot
thingiverse
This print allows you to use a 2020 v-slot for the X axis on the Full Spectrum Hobby 5th Gen Laser. Hardware needed: - 1000mm v-slot 2020 linear rail (https://openbuildspartstore.com/v-slot-20x20-linear-rail/) - Mini v-slot carriage kit (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0813CV954/, it's cheaper than OpenBuilds and comes with all the hardware needed) - GT2 Belt (https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B071K8HYB4/) - Double-sided mounting tape 1. Carefully remove the X optical sensor, then remove the X rail from the laser 2. Clamp the old rail to the new 2020 v-slot rail and use it as a guide to cut and drill mounting holes in the new rail 3. Print the "X Carriage Plate" and 2 each of the GT2 clips and inserts (I used PLA with 4 walls and 50% infill) 4. Remove the wheel hardware from the purchased carriage kit, and mount them to the printed carriage 5. Remove the mirror and laser head from the original carriage and mount them to the printed carriage using the original M3 screws 6. Thread the mew complete carriage onto the new X rail, mount the rail to the Y gantries with the original M3 screws, and reattach the optical sensor 7. Run new GT2 belt, using the printed clips to secure it to the new X carriage 8. Mount one of the original bars to the X carriage so it can be read by the optical sensor 9. Adjust all eccentric nuts (including on the Y axis), belt tension, and mirrors 10. Profit!
