This is a chert rock flake measuring approximately 2.0 centimeters in height, with worked edges suggesting it may have been modified for use as a scraper or small area knife. Found at a remote site within the Coconino Forest, it was discovered in close association with evidence of Sinagua and Yavapai presence and activity. This example and the one from model FS1881 were found together near a known site. Additional information about the Red Rock District of the Coconino Forest can be accessed at sedonaredrocktrails.org and fs.usda.gov/recmain/coconino/recreation. Information on volunteer opportunities in the Coconino Forest, including 3D modeling and other projects, is available at friendsoftheforestsedona.org.
