FS1877 Bedrock Grinding Surface - Remote Site

sketchfab

This is a prehistoric grinding surface (metate) located at a predominantly Sinagua site in the Coconino National Forest, northwest of Sedona, Arizona. This site features extensive areas of pictograph and petroglyph rock art but lacks any evidence of room structures, although some are present within hundreds of meters. The grinding surface was likely used for grinding corn or beans. A mano grinding stone discovered in association with the metate is basalt, potentially a stone used with this surface. This model is created as part of photo documentation of sites in the Verde Valley considered vulnerable to natural or human factors.
