FS1875 Possible Sinagua Artifact
sketchfab
This is a possible "scraper" artifact discovered during photo documentation of a remote site in the Coconino Forest north of Sedona, Arizona. It is most likely Sinagua in origin but could also be Archaic, Yavapai or Apache. The artifact measures 8 cm along its longest axis and was crafted from local Kaibab Limestone. Notably, all edges display chip marks suggesting it may have been fashioned into a multi-edge scraper or knife. A near horizontal "fracture and black extrusion is evident from merging upper & lower sides. After photo and 3D model documentation, this specimen has been returned to its original location and buried beneath the ground surface. More information about the Red Rock District of the Coconino Forest can be found at sedonaredrocktrails.org. Additional details on volunteer opportunities in the Coconino Forest, including 3D modeling and other projects, are available at friendsoftheforestsedona.org.
