This ancient rock art site is situated deep within the Coconino Forest, just outside Sedona, Arizona. A challenging hike through rugged terrain leads to a steep slope where the vibrant petroglyphs are carved high into the rock face. Captured with precision using a telephoto lens, these intricate designs reveal at least 23 distinct symbols, including zoomorphs and geometrics that may represent the ancestors of the Hopi Bear Clan. Most of these glyphs were created using the indirect percussion method, a technique commonly found in Sinagua sites throughout the Verde Valley. This particular model is part of an ongoing effort to document endangered archaeological sites threatened by natural erosion or vandalism. By preserving our cultural heritage through innovative digital models, we can ensure that these precious sites remain accessible for generations to come.
