This is a small but significant portion of Palatki Grotto Panel 15, featuring an Archaic "Rake" symbol directly associated with younger or older pictographs and petroglyphs. Using the same input photographs as FS1850, but processed through the Dstretch algorithm YBK to amplify color variations in determining paint types and superposition, this model forms part of a larger project assessing superposition of Archaic and younger imagery over older petroglyph scratching. This ongoing project provides valuable insights into the complex relationship between different stages of rock art development in the Red Rock District of the Coconino Forest. For more information about the Red Rock District, including its unique geology and ecosystem, visit http://www.sedonaredrocktrails.org/ or http://www.fs.usda.gov/recmain/coconino/recreation. Volunteer opportunities in the Coconino Forest, such as creating 3D models like this one, are available through organizations like the Friends of the Forest Sedona.
