This is a small portion of Palatki Grotto Panel 15, featuring an Archaic snake symbol prominently displayed on the rock face alongside probable Sinagua and Yavapai imagery. Note that areas of this panel show partial rock face sloughing and probable surface mineralization affecting natural patination's magnitude and nature. This is a complex rock art panel with multiple instances of superposition, including Archaic, Sinagua, Yavapai, Apache, and historic graffiti. The model presented here is part of an ongoing project evaluating the superposition of Archaic imagery over older petroglyph scratching.
