FS1840 Honanki Panel 35 Proto Historic Glyph
sketchfab
This is a small area of rock art panel 35 at the Honanki Heritage Site in the Red Rock District of the Coconino Forest, northwest of Sedona, Arizona. A horse-like glyph is probably Proto Historic Yavapai or Apache superimposed over Archaic, Sinagua and Yavapai imagery. The relatively light pecking might actually be a light chalk covering that serves as an outline or guide before a more complete glyph is created. This is part of an ongoing project to document at-risk sites and rock art, also to evaluate potential pre-Archaic imagery in the Verde Valley. Additional information about the Red Rock District of the Coconino Forest can be found on the following websites: www.sedonaredrocktrails.org, www.fs.usda.gov/recmain/coconino/recreation. Information about volunteer opportunities in the Coconino Forest including 3D models creation and other projects is available at www.friendsoftheforestsedona.org.
