This is a small but significant area of rock art panel 9 within the Grotto Alcove of the Palatki Heritage Site, located in the heart of the Red Rock District, Coconino Forest. Northwest of Sedona, Arizona, this site boasts an extraordinary collection of superimposed petroglyph scratches from various cultures and time periods, likely including Archaic, Sinagua, Yavapai or Apache pictographs. The rock surface is experiencing flaking, while some white areas appear as carbonate fracture fillings, remarkably parallel to the rock face. This project aims to document at-risk sites and rock art, as well as assess potential pre-Archaic imagery in the Verde Valley.
