FS1832 Palatki Grotto Panel 9 Detail

sketchfab

This is a small area of rock art panel 9 at Grotto Alcove, Palatki Heritage Site in Red Rock District of Coconino Forest, northwest of Sedona, Arizona. This adjacent Archaic rake symbol pictograph appears to be superimposed on probable older vertical petroglyphs. The sanake-like glyph may be Sinagua, but superposition on paint and other scratching is unclear. This site is part of an ongoing project documenting at-risk sites, rock art, and evaluating potential pre-Archaic imagery in Verde Valley. Additional information about Red Rock District of Coconino Forest can be found at sedonaredrocktrails.org and fs.usda.gov/recmain/coconino/recreation. Volunteer opportunities in Coconino Forest including 3D model creation and other projects are available at friendsoftheforestsedona.org.
