FS1828 Palatki Grotto, Panel 15,
sketchfab
This is a small area of rock art panel 15 situated within the Grotto Alcove of the Palatki Heritage Site in Arizona's Red Rock District, located northwest of Sedona. A small portion of an Archaic rake symbol pictograph appears superimposed on probable older vertical petroglyphs and overdrawn by younger Sinagua or Apache scratches. The age of the oldest markings is currently unknown. This area forms part of a project to document high-risk sites and rock art, as well as assess potential pre-Archaic imagery in the Verde Valley. More information about the Red Rock District of the Coconino Forest can be found at sedonaredrocktrails.org and fs.usda.gov/recmain/coconino/recreation. Details on volunteer opportunities in the Coconino Forest, including 3D model creation and other projects, are available at friendsoftheforestsedona.org.
