This model is part of an ongoing project to document "at risk" features at Heritage Sites within the Coconino Forest due to natural or vandalism-related issues. This is the exterior of the west wall of the south room at the Van Deren historic cabin in the Coconino Forest near Sedona, Arizona. Much of the original wood on this structure is in poor condition with some interstitial wood and fill material now gone. A more detailed version of FS1583 shows the deterioration of the wood. The cabin dates back to the early 20th century. Major repairs were carried out by the Forest Service and Friends of the Forest Volunteers in the late 1990s. Additional information about the Red Rock District of the Coconino Forest can be found at sedonaredrocktrails.org, fs.usda.gov/coconino/recreation. Information about volunteer opportunities in the Coconino Forest including the creation of 3D models and other projects can be found at friendsoftheforestsedona.org.
