FS1571 Crescent Moon, Small Water Wheel

This model is part of a comprehensive project to document "at risk" features at Heritage Sites within the Coconino Forest due to natural or vandalism-related issues. The small water wheel located at the Crescent Moon Recreation Area near Sedona, Arizona, was built in the 1930s and serves as a prime example of this effort. Unfortunately, the model is incomplete because it was created under very poor lighting conditions and with limited space available for work. Nevertheless, the structure played a significant role in generating small amounts of energy to power local pumps used for irrigation at the site.
