This model is part of a long-term effort to document "at risk" features at Heritage Sites within the Coconino Forest due to natural or vandalism-related issues. The door hinge area at the Blacksmith cabin in the Crescent Moon Recreation Area, near Sedona, Arizona, is highlighted here. Built between 1936 and 1937, the cabin remains relatively well-preserved despite being fully exposed to the elements. Localized areas of wood degradation are visible in other detailed models. Notice the original metal door hinge and wooden bar embedded in the stone wall to secure the hinge. Further information about the Red Rock District of the Coconino Forest can be found on these websites: http://www.sedonaredrocktrails.org/, http://www.fs.usda.gov/recmain/coconino/recreation.
