This is the central area of rock art panel 9 in the Grotto Alcove of the Palatki Heritage Site northwest of Sedona, Arizona. The panel features a rich collection of pictographs and petroglyphs created by the Sinagua people and probable petroglyphs left behind by the Archaic cultures. The harsh lighting accentuates the distinctive scratched then polished then scratched again corners that are characteristic in this region. This 3D model is part of an ongoing initiative to document the gradual degradation of the rock face at this site over time. You can see areas on this cliff face where rock fragments are breaking off and the fractures are being carefully recorded to determine changes over time.
