FS1454 Palatki Grotto Panel 9 detail

This is a compact section of rock art panel 9 at Grotto Alcove in Palatki Heritage Site, situated northwest of Sedona Arizona within Coconino Forest. The region of this panel features Archaic, Sinagua, Yavapai and historical graffiti confined to the narrow space created by geological fracturing of Supai Sandstone. On the outer parts of the cliff face are numerous Archaic, Sinagua, Yavapai, Apache and historical graffiti with intricate overlapping elements. There have been earlier models of this area. There are ongoing problems of rock surface flaking and paint peeling so periodic models are being obtained for comparison.
