FS1444 Palatki Grotto Alcove Rock Art Panel 9
sketchfab
This is a small area of rock art panel nine located within the Grotto Alcove at the Palakti Heritage Site, situated northwest of Sedona, Arizona in the Red Rock District of the Coconino Forest. The petroglyphs on this panel are primarily in the entoptic style commonly seen from Archaic and Sinaguan cultures. This area is an exceptional example of superposition of petroglyphs and pictographs from various cultures and the evaluation of which is younger and which culture they represent. This is one of the panels at risk due to spalling of its surface and loss of archaeological evidence. Additional information about the Red Rock District of the Coconino Forest can be found at www.sedonaredrocktrails.org, www.fs.usda.gov/recmain/coconino/recreation, or www.friendsoftheforestsedona.org for volunteer opportunities in the Coconino Forest including creation of 3D models and other projects.
