This is rock art panel nine at the Palatki Heritage Site northwest of Sedona, Arizona, situated within the Red Rock District of the Coconino National Forest. This region is endangered due to minor spalling of rock fragments and possible fading pre-historic pictographs and petroglyphs. The panel showcases an abundance of Sinagua, Archaic, and Yavapai pictographs as well as Sinagua and Archaic petroglyphs. In the upper right-hand corner, early settlers in Sedona have left their mark with modern initials, verified to be over one hundred years old, known as "historic graffiti." Additional information about the Red Rock District of the Coconino Forest can be found at the following websites: sedonaredrocktrails.org and fs.usda.gov/recmain/coconino/recreation. Information on volunteer opportunities in the Coconino Forest, including the creation of 3D models and other projects, is available at friendsoftheforestsedona.org.
