This is a life-sized bronze model of a Javelina, also known as Collared Peccary, and her young ones, commonly found in Sedona's forested areas. The model is situated in the patio area of the Ranger Station Visitor Center, where rangers and volunteers use it to educate and inform visitors about the types of wildlife they might encounter in the Sedona region. The Red Rock District of the Coconino Forest was awarded the 2017 Chief's Award for Fostering Volunteerism and Service. This national-level award recognizes the Forest Service and Friends of the Forest for developing and implementing new technologies, such as 3D models, to enhance education.
