We store a limited selection of vegetables, consisting mainly of cucumber, carrots, and paprika, near the stove in our kitchen. Each time this area needs to be cleaned, we must relocate every item individually. I proposed a simple solution to address this problem. The design principle used for this project is similar to that of my horizontal Leaflet Display and the Apple Tray „Lines“. Two blocks of solid hardwood are connected by bendable aludibond. This unique material can be curved if kerfed from one side, resulting in an interesting effect when the bendlines are not straight. I created this design using my Stepcraft CNC machine and a 2 mm single flute endmill for cutting the aludibond, as well as a 3 mm end mill designed specifically for wood. To add a decorative touch to the handles, I used my hand router to give them a nice roundover.
