Frugal USB Case
cults3d
I often pick up USB memory sticks from conferences as quirky keepsakes or corporate trinkets, typically incorporated into some oversized promotional items. Eventually, the novelty of a USB battleship, tank, or train engine wears off, and all that's left is the electronics. A popular design when stripped down measures 1 x 11 x 25 mm. This would be acceptable except for the 1 mm height being too thin for reliable contact, so giving it a new cost-effective housing makes sense. Here's my first design for making a stripped-down USB stick functional. It features a 2-part case: one is the internal 1.5 mm high frame for the USB and the other slides over it as the outer 2 mm high body, which also contains a diagonal 1 mm corner hole for attaching with a piece of fishing line if desired. A cap? Caps are outdated, but I can add one for any comment requesting it. Also, if there's any specific logo or text (or any suggestion for improvement), I'm open to requests.
