I used Keystone AA Battery Contact and Leaf Spring Contacts from rs-online.com along with a 2s balance lead(JST-XH 2.5mm 2-pin) wired in series. The tray fits snugly, allowing the cells to make contact with the back cover. However, this is unavoidable. ***WARNING!!!*** Don't be careless when inserting the cells into the tray. Li-ion cells are highly volatile and require attention to polarity. I use battery polarity stickers from stealthvape.co.uk to ensure correct insertion.
