FRS / BRZ / 86 - Intake Sound Tube Plug
thingiverse
The Subaru BRZ has a "sound tube" that connects the intake to the interior of the car. When this is removed, you need to plug the hole left in the intake properly. This plug is designed for that purpose. I printed it in ABS plastic, which has a glass transition at 220f, providing enough heat tolerance for this part. However, I had to print it in PLA due to time constraints and availability of materials. PLA's glass transition point is around 140f, causing it to become rubbery when heated above that temperature. To test the durability of the plug, I drove in stop-and-go traffic with intake temperatures measuring between 150-160f. The part showed no signs of damage but I wouldn't recommend relying on it long-term if printed in PLA.
