This antique Charlotte doll emerged from archaeological excavations in Washington, D.C. and originates from the late 19th or early 20th centuries. The doll is named after a well-known ballad "Young Charlotte," which itself draws inspiration from Seba Smith's 1843 poem "A Corpse Going to a Ball" (for more information and an audio recording see http://digitalcommons.library.umaine.edu/songstorysamplercollection/28/. This delicate porcelain toy was 3D scanned using a NextEngine Desktop 3D scanner courtesy of the Historic Preservation Office in the DC Office of Planning (https://planning.dc.gov/page/historic-preservation-office).
