Triton, son of Poseidon and Amphitrite, rules over the ocean with authority. Born to the god of the sea and his goddess mother, Triton stands among many offspring of Poseidon. He is typically shown as a merman, combining human upper body with fish-like lower body. However, artists often depicted sea gods like Triton as sea centaurs or other creatures, blending human heads and torsos with horse legs and fish tails. Triton's home is believed to be a golden palace beneath the waves, where he lives alongside his parents.
