From the Earth to the Moon
youmagine
From the Earth to the Moon was designed with a dual purpose in mind: as a simple toy that climbs strings, and as a functional pull chain extender for ceiling fans in my grandkids' bedrooms. The design incorporates a clever mechanism called a "dual spool" that creates the illusion of climbing strings. Toys featuring this same mechanism have been around for years, and when I was younger, I took apart several to figure out how they worked. This model uses press-fit assembly for its dual spool and threaded assembly for its body. You'll need to buy some string or heavy thread that minimizes fraying and can be glued in place. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask - I'm sure I left out a file or two in the instructions. I make plenty of mistakes, after all. Designed using Autodesk Fusion 360, sliced with Cura 2.3.1, and printed on both an Ultimaker 2+ Extended and an Ultimaker 3 Extended in PLA material.
